Roentgenologic and Clinical Aspect of the Nonfunctioning Gall-bladder

Abstract
We discussed the degree of accuracy with which the presence or absence of pathologic changes in the gall-bladder could be predicted by means of oral cholecystographic diagnosis.
Iopanoic acid and sodium ipodate were employed in 400 cases, under the same preparation of low fat and low protein diet.
Adequate gall-bladder opacification was obtained in high percentage by both agents, 84% by iopanoic acid. and 88% by sodium ipodate.
In a series of 400 cases oral cholecystographic examination in which all diagnoses were subjected to surgical and pathological verification.
In 3 cases of 44 cases in which the gall-bladder was described as nonfunctioning it was found to be normal.
The presence of normality implied by the diagnosis of normality by the diagnosis of normally functioning gall-bladder was found to be abnormal in 5 cases.
